She has written about restaurants and food for over 19 years, and now runs three popular columns in The Indian Express, Mid-Day Mumbai and Mid-Day Pune, along with writing for several magazines like India Today Plus, Femina, The British Airways magazine, Verve and many more. She writes three columns every week [including one in a national daily]. Having studied Literature, Journalism, Law and Business Administration, she joined the Indian Revenue Service in 1977, and 13 years later, chucked it all up as a

Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, to pursue more creative avenues in newsprint and television. She trained wit BBC and produced, scripted, directed and anchored ‘Healthy Today’, a healthy show for India Today for 52 weeks on DD Metro.

Rashmi pioneered the interactive ‘Foodline’ or telephone-call-in service for readers to ask questions and share information, idea and responses with her and their fellow readers. She also authored two first-of-their-kind books [‘The Oberoi Penguin Celebrity Cookbook’ and the ‘Mid-Day Food Guide for Pune’], and she runs the happening food store at the Crossroads mall – ‘Rashmi Uday Singh’s Good Food Gallerie’.
